Mood: Determined
Weather: Overcast & Mild Rain
Outfit Purpose: Staying Warm & Dry / Stylist at Work
Style Savvy: In work mode and feeling determined means a strong classic yet chic outfit. Two staple investment pieces every woman should own is a great pair of fitted black pants in a heavier fabric so they’ll last and a khaki trench coat. I paired my Zara pants and Banana Republic trench with my Prabal Gurung for Target top and Zara suede heels while matching my wine colored nails and lipstick to my shoes. Wine, maroon, bordeaux, crimson … whatever you want to call it, it’s a must-have Fall/Winter color for your wardrobe. FYI, it comes back every year.
Personal Style: Classic-n-Chic
Thoughts: I’m over the blahs and blues, scraped myself out of bed and took some action today. Feeling determined to get through the holidays while on this no shopping challenge. Can you believe I’ve completed 5 freaking months?! Holy toledo this is a miracle! If I can share one lesson I’ve learned over the past few days of being on my pity pot … that it’s healthy to acknowledge your feelings when you’re having negative thoughts or feeling defeated, whatever it is just embrace it. When I finally face something I don’t want to look at, only then can I move forward.
I was raised to do the opposite – to not recognize a bad feeling. Instead I was suppose to either “suck it up” “get over it” “there’s no reason to be upset” … I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s got these sayings drilled into the center core of their brain. That led to so much self-destruction and self-sabotage while growing up and into my adult years. I can’t express enough how much easier it gets to just “be” – let go of the pride and ego and look at the ugly, get humble and live in acceptance. I’m not perfect at this practice but at least I’m willing to try.
