DAY 22: Shop My Closet 365 Days Challenge

Mood: Longing

Weather: Sunny at first, chilly and overcast later in the day

Outfit Purpose: Weekend Play

Style Savvy: A shirt dress is a must have piece for a woman’s wardrobe. You can style it so many different ways. Belt, no belt, vest, jacket, heels, sandals, to the office or super casual. You name it. I decided to style my Zara shirt dress (bought summer 2012) casually for a Sunday outing with gemstone Guiseppe Zanotti sandals (circa 2008), beaded tassel necklace and an Old Navy scarf worn as a turban. Because my shirt dress is somewhat see through I used a nude under garment romper to combat the issue. These undergarments come in handy for so many different uses, I’m telling you invest in one or two.

Personal Style: Boho Chic World Travler

What’s Going On With Me: I have to confess, I’ve been wanting to talk to my ex-husband for the past 4 days now. I just want to hear his voice and say hello, ask how he’s doing? That’s all. I just don’t know if that’s appropriate or if it will make us both emotional. I don’t like to scratch a wound and open it back up, so I avoid it. My mom finally said this morning, “If you want to call him and say hello then just do it. Maybe it will make you feel better.” I did later in the day and left a message. He called me back a few hours after and instead of me saying, “Hi how are you? Just want to say hello,” I ended up asking him, “Did I get any mail?” He was a bit perturbed by that and so our conversation lasted maybe 2 minutes. I texted him back saying sorry that I got tongue tied because I miss talking to him. I don’t know if I feel better or not.

To get out of my head and get to know my new town better, I took a stroll through Solana Beach today. I mainly walked through Cedros Design District by the train station. I popped into the shops and discovered some pretty unique things and hidden finds. You might think that window shopping would be torture for me because I’m doing this challenge but it wasn’t. I had fun trying on some amazing designer gowns at Del Mar Dress Company (see my collage picture below). I also stumbled into the coolest odds & ends store, SoLo Cedros. This place is expansive and filled with all kinds of artsy design goods. I also perused a few antique shops which had some worthwhile stuff not just junk. All in all, a good Sunday exploration.

Thoughts: Marriage is difficult whether you’re in one or getting out of one. The key is to be aware of your own actions and make sure your side of the street is clean. Try to slip on that person’s shoes and see their side and be compassionate. Come from a place of love regardless of the situation.
