DAY 23: Shop My Closet 365 Days Challenge

Mood: Calm

Weather: Sunny, warmish, breezy

Outfit Purpose: Black in Business, Stylist at your Service

Style Savvy: An LBD doesn’t have to be reserved for evening, cocktail parties, events or dinner dates. If your attitude says I’m wearing this bitch all day and I don’t care what people think, then your confidence will exude and tell people you mean business. Whenever I slip on this Stretta LBD, I feel like I can conquer the world. For the day I threw on my lightweight Banana Republic khaki trench coat (staple piece every woman should have, no exceptions ladies) and Zara heels. To polish off my look, I kept everything sleek with a vintage Gucci clutch, leopard print crystal earrings, classic silver and gold Timex watch and cat-eyes sunnies.

Personal Style: City Chic Powerhouse

What’s Going On With Me: Today is one of those days where I’m just going to lay it all out. First, I’m dealing with major cramps because my monthly visitor decided to show up early. Typically this wouldn’t faze me but I arranged for a little rendezvous this week with an old friend (he’s actually my sister’s friend who I know) and lives in San Diego which is convenient. If you’ve been reading my story, remember I mentioned that my libido has been on fire? (Read here & here) Well, now nothing will be happening this week. I guess I wasn’t meant to get some. Then there’s out-of-state guy, we’ve put the brakes on for the time being. My mom asked me today if we already broke up. I laughed because we haven’t even started to date yet. We’ve been phone pals and getting to know each other slowly. He’s coming to the L.A. at the end of August, so we’ll see what happens. I haven’t been single in 9 years so I’m a little out of practice. I don’t want to isolate that’s why I’m putting myself out there to enjoy life, have fun and experience new things.

On the work front, hence my outfit for the day, I’ve got a few exciting style projects that I’m coordinating. I love being creative especially when people are game to go with my vision. Next week I also have plans to stay in L.A. with one of my besties and visit all my gals while I’m up there. I can’t wait! That’s probably the hardest thing is not seeing my girlfriends throughout the week. Not only did I separate from my ex-husband, I feel like I separated from my girlfriends. I chat with them on the phone weekly but it’s still not the same.

Thoughts: The men will pat you on your ass and the women will save your ass. I love this saying and glad I hear it from time to time as a reminder. If I didn’t have my girlfriends, even my mom and sister (they’re like my girlfriends too) – I wouldn’t be where I’m at today mentally and emotionally. When you can’t love yourself or get out of bed or stop crying, call your girls. They’ll be there to listen and that’s all we really need when we’re struggling.
