DAY 52: Shop My Closet Summer Chic

Mood: Pumped (daytime), Longing (evening hours)

Weather: Hot, hot, humid

Outfit Purpose: Out to Lunch & Appointments

Style Savvy: If you’re an avid fashion gal and flip through magazines or click around online, you might have noticed that color blocking and print pairing have been a top trend all year. I will always try to find a way to include both, hence the outfit for today. I’ve got a color block of black and white happening with my BCBG Max Azria maxi skirt (also worn on Day 8 here) and then print pairing with my Single wrap top. I took the accessories up a notch with this outfit pairing some great vintage gold jewelry (Chanel earrings, belt), Cartier panther bangle, Anne Klein panther link bracelet, my Timex classic two-tone watch and Christian Louboutin heels.

Personal Style: Summer Chic

What’s Going On With Me: I typically write my blog post at night so that way I can recap my day and around 7PM I wasn’t feeling too inspired. I even posted on my Facebook status that I wasn’t feeling it but need to rally. A friend from high school, who’s also a big supporter of my blog and this challenge, commented ” Come on…you can do it…people need to see that we can still look attractive and youthful…even when we live in the STICKS!” So this post is dedicated to her (smiley face). Thanks CS your comment actually helped me get my ass in gear (a favorite saying of my mom).

Here’s the thing, writing everyday isn’t the issue, it’s all the other stuff. It’s planning my outfit of the day and taking photos. Then I have to edit the photos and I usually run them through Photoshop to spiff them up a bit. And then there’s all the linking and tagging of the brands I mention and then proofing everything over and over. If it were JUST writing, I would be good.

Although I had a pretty pumped up day with styling my news gal and bringing over more options for her to wear on-camera, later in the day my mood shifted. It does that from time to time. I think it’s because I wish it were the weekend already. And not because I have the weekends off typically, it’s because I’m waiting for someone to get here. As a courtesy to him and our privacy I won’t be able to share too much on my blog but he is someone very special and I’ve been waiting to see him for a couple of months now. That’s all I can divulge.

Thoughts: It’s been hard to connect my brain to my heart and find a balance during these past several months due to the major changes in my life. I logically know what’s right and what makes sense but my emotions and thinking don’t seem to jive. When I was more centered and secure, I could find harmony with my head and heart. I know I will again, I just need to be patient and go easy on myself. Sigh.
