DAY 69: Shop My Closet Boho Street Chic

Mood: Yearning

Weather: Hotter

Outfit Purpose: Fashion Friday

Style Savvy: I get this question all the time, “What do I wear with a tunic? Leggings?” I know leggings have made a comeback and yes they make sense for certain outfits but I really try to stray away from them as much as possible. Here’s why … most leggings are made with really thin material, almost see-through and border on yoga/workout wear. This isn’t fashionable ladies! Go for the alternative like a skinny jean or invest in a legging that is made with a heavy, thick fabric and details like a cool zipper or piping down the side – so it looks more like a skinny pant.

Going back to pairing with tunics, anything below the waist should be tailored, structured, slimming, tapered, etc. I took my BCBG Max Azria sequined tunic and paired it with my wax coated Paige denim skinny jeans and my almost worn out (from wearing so much!) nude suede ShoeMint ankle strap heels. For accessories, I’m wearing a Swarovski necklace, a mix of gold and rose gold rings & bracelets, and a classic Timex watch.

What’s Going On With Me: I’m blogging remote tonight from my sister’s house (spending the night here) so I wasn’t able to prepare my photos much, hence lack of shots. I was busy today, running around trying to get things done that I spaced on prepping for my blog. Note to self: Must get a USB camera card reader.

Tonight I was invited to this fashion-slash-art-slash-charity event in South Park (San Diego) and dragged my sister along. I didn’t really know what to expect but it sounded cool in the email. Anyway it was somewhat of a dud and that area is not impressive. I’m sorry, but compared to other up & coming “hipster” areas in SD, this one still needs a lot of work. I assumed it to be like University Heights where I spent some time with SD Guy a few months ago. Oh well, it’s good to venture out at least.

My sis and I ended up having dinner at this place called Studio Diner where they have the most amazing Ruben sandwich (think they sprinkle crack in it) because it’s so FREAKING AMAZEBALLS! Oh and the Lava Cake to DIE! On the menu it reads, “Go ahead … BAKE my Day” AND they did! Fo sho, no gelato for me tonight.

Today I’m yearning even after hustling around town getting biz done. My mind hasn’t been totally present. I want to be in a bikini laying on a tropical sandy shore, watching beautiful sunsets and getting cozy. That sounds like heaven to me right now. Sigh.

Thoughts: “All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.” – Buddha. Karma baby, karma.
