I’m a firm believer that most of us, especially women, dress by the way we feel. Lately I’ve been in a less is more, nothing complicated zone. I want classic, effortless, chic without all the fuss. That’s probably why most of my outfits have consisted of solid colors in black, ivory, grey, navy, and army green. No prints or patterns, maybe subtle textures, if that. When I’m feeling less “colorful” I will try to be creative with accessories. But that’s even feeling fussy right now, so I’ve been wearing my classic, vintage jewelry and switch out my necklaces from time-to-time.
Presently, I have a lot of different things going on with work, all relating to style but in various forms. Maybe that’s why I’m not much for mixing or wearing prints because my career feels like one big pattern on fabric. It’s all good stuff, definitely quality problems.
I think I unconsciously swapped out visual chaos, the most stylish choreographed kind, from what I wear to my actual work schedule. Hence my outfits, very clean, chic and uncomplicated while I’m navigating through this colorful printed pattern of my life.
I’m also blaming the weather and time change for my lackluster style inspiration. The weather hasn’t changed much, still summery in Southern California. We just recently set our time back one hour, now it’s getting dark earlier. It doesn’t make sense. Slightly contrarian and chaotic. This weather-time bipolarness put a kibosh on my new Seasonal Shop My Closet Challenge that I’ve been waiting to launch and blog about. I have my Fall capsule collection ready to go but it’s been too bloody hot! Now it’s already mid-fall. I should just start it anyway. Now that I’ve put it out there, I will. Thanks for reading! XO, Maria
