When I started out styling, of course it was all about women’s clothing and accessories. I dabbled with menswear but it didn’t excite me as much UNTIL this year. Menswear has come a long way. Well actually it’s circled back to when men dressed dapper and stylish, circa 1920 – 50’s. Especially men’s accessories. OMG! I’m so addicted to pocket squares. Thank goodness my beau appreciates style and will sport cool ties, pocket squares and socks. Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of styling the Men’s Issue of FINE Magazine (see HERE) which catapulted my attraction to style more male clients and men’s fashion editorials.
One of my fave showrooms in downtown L.A. that I pull pieces from is dedicated mainly to menswear but has a few women’s brands I love as well. On my last visit an array of colorful and stylish pocket squares caught my eye, I had to get one for my honey. They are designed and made in L.A. by Pocket Square Clothing, a men’s accessory brand established in 2011. With no formal fashion training but with an architectural and business background, founders Rodolfo Ramirez and Andrew Cheung sought to create a lifestyle brand beyond clothing. Their collection reflects today’s Urban Gentleman and features bow ties, skinny neckties and pocket squares.
We were enamored by the symbolism of the modern-day pocket square,” said Rodolfo Ramirez, co-owner of Pocket Square Clothing, “It’s an iconic piece that serves not only as an accent to your outfit, but also as a powerful statement of who you are.
