Nail color has been a leading fashion trend for the past year and is growing bigger by the weeks, thanks to Pinterest. I definitely have an addiction to buying nail polish and love changing out my fingernail color once a week. I leave the toes to the pros every two weeks for a pedi.
Here’s the issue I was having and maybe you might be having too, nail polish chips or peels easily. Hence the whole “gel craze” which BTW, I’m not too crazed about because of the UV skin damage factor {read article here}. Here’s TWO savvy solutions to keep your nail polish lasting at least a whole week if not longer…
1. Don’t use BASE COAT! I’m serious. Prep your nails by cleaning with rubbing alcohol then directly start applying your nail polish. Make sure to apply at least 2, if not 3, coats of polish. ** You can also ask your manicurist to do this as well. They may talk you out of it, but stay firm.
2. Use a good TOP COAT. Spend money on top coat and make sure it’s a good salon formula. Like Ulta’s Salon Formula X-Dry $6. I apply 2 coats, letting the first coat dry for at least 10 minutes. ** Bring your top coat into your nail salon on your next visit and ask to have 2 coats applied.
