Creamy ivory, crisp whites and dreamy pastels look fresh during wintertime. If you’re not one for head-to-toe pastel pairings, you can opt for one piece that’s in a light hue to brighten up your outfit of the day. Outerwear, sweaters, scarves, hats and gloves…even a handbag are great ways to incorporate pastels into your winter wardrobe.
I originally wanted to pair a cozy oversized sweater with this ethereal baby blue skirt but everything I tried on wasn’t jiving with my mood, so I paired a silk taupe top with metallic gold heels and delicate gold jewelry instead. Now looking at my outfit, I look like a glamorous school teacher with the window behind me resembling an old school chalkboard, LOL. Let’s talk about dressing per our mood for a minute.
Moods can depict what colors we gravitate towards and fabrics we choose when putting an outfit together. If you’re in a funk, you might opt for darker colors in softer fabrics to feel comforted. Or if you’re feeling extra chipper you might choose brighter colors and show a little bit more skin.
On the flip side, if you want to CHANGE your mood, dressing the opposite of how you feel could actually do the trick. I believe that what we wear can shift our moods, even if it’s subtle. As a personal stylist, I help elevate my clients style for what they want to shift in their lives. I see an immediate change in their facial expression and body language when this style transformation happens. It’s rewarding and magical. For more personal styling info, CLICK HERE.
