Style Savvy: Pulling out one of my LBD’s for the evening. I have several little black dresses in different cuts and fabrics but this SINGLE dress is one I tend to rotate more often than the others. Here’s a time to play up your accessories from jewelry to belts and shoes. You have a sleek black dress, a plain canvas to create a unique look with accessories, so try things on and get creative. I love how yellow gold pops off black, so I tend to pair that more so than silver and other metals. Don’t be concerned with being matchy matchy with your belt, bag and heels either. Since my vintage panther necklace and green resin bracelet standout, I kept my belt, bag and heels streamlined with delicate details.

Thoughts: “Stop looking for reasons to be unhappy. Focus on the things you do have, and the reasons you should be happy.” I saw this quote floating around Facebook today. I need this tattooed to my arm as a reminder. Even though I often wake up with this attitude or perspective, I can get stuck in the unhappy zone at times. It’s usually when I’m not feeling so great on the inside and I start looking at others and comparing myself. That’s a big no-no. I usually try to reel it in and remind myself of all that I have to be grateful for and that my life is pretty groovy (do people even use that word anymore?).
Sometimes I forget what I’ve accomplished and what a full life I’ve lived so far until I meet someone new and start sharing about my past, etc. It’s kind of a cool way to reflect on my history and get grateful for what I have.
