I had the privilege and pleasure of being a guest judge for the Vintage Old Hollywood Fashion Contest held at the opening day of Bing Crosby Season at Del Mar Racing Thoroughbred Club on November 7th. Racing returned to Del Mar for the first Fall racing season in almost 50 years and the new “Bing Crosby Season” got off to a stylish start.
An old classic Hollywood vibe was the essence of this inaugural event. The opening day crowd of over 11,000 San Diegans dressed to their Hollywood nines and Bing – the track’s founder – would have felt right at home among the fashionable.
More than 100 hopeful contestants met on the Red Carpet in Plaza de Mexico while getting photos snapped by local paparazzi. Celebrity impersonators like Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable, never broke from character. A lot of eye candy and people watching which I thoroughly enjoyed. Tatiana Selpova of San Diego was the big winner of the Vintage Hollywood Fashion Contest. She was named winner of the Most Glamorous category, as well as Bing Crosby Grand Prize Winner.
Guest judges for the fashion contest (including myself, Britt & Gretchen Hackmann from Nubry.com and Fox 5 News reporter Heather Lake) met for lunch in Il Palio restaurant in Del Mar’s Turf Club. My dessert was sinfully delicious, just the way I like it! A little hockey puck of chocolate goodness (see image below). If you missed opening day don’t fret, Bing Crosby season is happening until November 30th. For more info, visit online at https://www.dmtc.com/ .
