Mood: Blissful
Weather: Sunny, warm & humid
Outfit Purpose: Daytime activities
Style Savvy: This Bisou Bisou dress from JCP has all the elements that I love in a maxi dress – fit, length, vibrant colors, and smart print mixing with leopard and florals. To finish off my look, I accessorized with a Banana Republic turquoise necklace, a few bangles and wired cuff bracelet, CC Skye bullet ring, classic Timex watch, Urban Expressions vegan clutch bag and patent leather cobalt blue Derek Lam heels (one of my faves in my shoe collection circa 2007).
Personal Style: Island chic
What’s Going On With Me: I’m back today. Back in spirit, back in my photos and back with a smile on my face. Sometimes you just need a couple of days to purge all that residual muck inside. Well at least I did. Thank goodness I have longer stretches of better days than bad days. One of my new SD girlfriends asked me today while we were chatting, “What happened between you and your husband?” I gave her the short version and the most recent events that lead to the dissolve of my marriage. Her response afterwards, “Nope, don’t like that at all.” I told her to stand in the back of the line because all my friends feel the same way. I don’t want to trash my ex because he was and is a good person. But there were obviously issues and differences.
The one thing that I need to remember is the conversation we had before I moved out. My ex asked me, “Will you go to any lengths to work on our marriage?” Yes, was always my answer and I had been going to plenty of “lengths” but he didn’t see it. I asked him, “What does that look like to you?” He pretty much said the same thing he’s been saying for the past couple of years. He just doesn’t get it and he wasn’t willing to go to any lengths either because he said “no” to marriage counseling. With many odds stacked high and hitting yet another brick wall my answer, along with a lot of tears, was finally, “No.”
Here’s why I’m blissful today…I woke to a few sweet text messages from my out-of-state guy who I’ve been kindling a deeper friendship with and ended my day with a warm cozy phone call from him. It’s like having a pen pal sans the pen, paper and postage. He’s a phone pal. Hopefully one day we can see each other in person. Until tomorrow, I bid you adieu.
Thoughts: Stay authentic and true to who you are, don’t change for someone else because you are beautiful as is. You will find someone who complements you and gives you the emotional support you deserve and need. Never give up on yourself.
