Mood: Spent
Weather: Sunny, warmish
Outfit Purpose: Out & About
Style Savvy: It’s pretty easy to get away with less layers in SoCal (specifically San Diego) during the winter season. Well this winter season so far. My J. Crew cashmere turtleneck has been a sober staple in my wardrobe for many years. It’s in a classic color, shape and fabric. This is a savvy investment piece all women should own. Instead of pairing a solid color pencil skirt, try something with prints or graphics to add flair. I’m Wearing | Joie military jacket, Love Tatum knockout ring, Forever 21 skirt, Marc Jacobs ankle boots.
Personal Style: SoCal Winter Chic
Thoughts: It’s only 7:30pm and I’m spent. I didn’t get much sleep last night because of a personal matter. My sole purpose last night was to be supportive, loving and compassionate. I believe I accomplished that but by the end of today, I felt like my tank was running on empty. I almost went to the “where’s mine?” route but that’s lame. I had to quickly shift my perception and remember that it’s not always about Maria. It’s about being of service to others when they are spiraling. And that’s when I have to pray and let my higher power guide me.
I do believe in a power greater than myself. I’m not religious but I’m spiritual and trust in something bigger than me out there. Whether it’s ancestors, angels, God, Buddha, the Universe … whatever the “label” I choose for the day, it’s a faith where I can let go of something weighing me down, that’s uncomfortable and/or out of my control. It’s been proven to me over and over that “this too shall pass” and then I’m all good again. If I embrace and acknowledge my fears, vulnerability, embarrassment, resentments or the unknown and give myself the time to process and release it, that’s when true healing begins and the smile on my face reappears.
