Weather: Hot for San Diego
Purpose: I wanted to wear something breathable and light because today was so hot.
Style Savvy: Light weight dresses during summer, especially 100% silk or cotton, move easier and are breathable when the temp gets hot. I could’ve just worn this turquoise blue silk dress by Sophia Eugene alone with all my accessories but I wanted to bring it down a notch for daytime, so I layered it with this Maggie Ward tangerine sheer top to give it some dimension and paired it with tropezienne style Sam Edelman sandals. If I were to take this look into night (I should’ve taken photos) – I would’ve ditched the orange top, cinched the dress with a textured or metallic belt, lose the beaded fringe necklace and throw on a pair of amazing ankle strap heels.
Personal Style: This look resonates to my refined boho chic side, where sometimes I need to feel lighter and less constricted but still look chic. Typically I like to wear one or two pieces with a bit of edge, humor or quirk – hence the Kate Spade “Play the Field” clutch.
Accessories: The amber bakelite bracelet with lantern tassel I’m wearing, I got at the Abbot Kinney Street Festival (Venice Beach) in 2012. The jewelry artist took a necklace from the 60’s and repurposed it to make bracelets then added vintage one of the kind trinkets as accents and charms.
What’s Going On With Me: I’m very moved and overwhelmed by all the response I’ve received since yesterday! I really had no idea how this would affect other women. I received emails, comments and phone calls from women who say they are going to participate in this challenge as well. I’ve heard from women I haven’t spoken to in years sending words of encouragement and support. Thank you! I see this challenge as more of a healing process while I get use to being without my soon-to-be ex-husband and living in a new city.
