What’s Going On: Tonight I was reminded by a very wise woman, whom I respect immensely and love to death, that we all have an expiration date but don’t know when it is, so why not live everyday to the fullest?! She even quoted something I wrote the other day in this column that mirrored what she was saying. Yeah. Yeah! Hell YEAH!! I also shared with her how I keep hearing from others “… just focus on yourself, focus on your career, forget about men, take care of yourself first …” and I agree to some extent all those points but not in the extreme, black and white way. Also, I’m at an age where I’m not a lost soul trying to find who she is in life. I know exactly who I am and where I want to be. I’m pretty self-aware and have done massive amounts of inner work. So I’m really okay with who I am and know what I want and don’t want.
Ultimately, I do want to be in a relationship and maybe marriage again. That’s not my drive, motivator or focus in life but it’s something I do want eventually. I’m not going to find Mr. Right locking myself indoors, burying myself in work or turning down dates either. I think it’s hard for some women to balance their lives while dating or being in a relationship. I know it can be for me at times. At this stage, I don’t think I could ever lose focus of my career and what I love doing because it’s too damn fun! And if a relationship comes along, then it’s a win-win.
