Mood: Exhilarated & Exhausted
Weather: Sunny & Warm
Outfit Purpose: Day-to-Night
Style Savvy: Pulling off sequins and oversized blinged out hoop earrings during the day takes some attitude. If you’re feeling uber confident when you get up in the morning and want to “shine bright like a diamond” a la Rhianna style, then I say GO FOR IT GIRL! That’s how I felt when I pieced this ensemble together, although I think this number is more JLOesque. Mixing texture, like this sheer sequin Aqua Luxe top with a psychedelic printed pant/jean (wearing Paige Denim) can uplift your mood or reconfirm your sassiness. For accessories, I added a vintage bakelite lantern bracelet, classic Timex watch, Hermés Birkin bag and bronze metallic Gucci heels circa 2006.
Personal Style: Street Glam Chic
What’s Going On With Me: Today was my travel day back to San Diego from L.A. The drive wasn’t so bad. Pockets of traffic here and there. When I got home, I breathed in deeply, exhaled and allowed myself to decompress. I was literally exhausted but exhilarated at the same time. My trip to L.A. filled me up with love, hope and inspiration. I feel like I snapped back into “Maria” mode again. Since I’ve been recovering from my divorce, I haven’t felt like myself until this week. It feels super!
One aspect of who I am is that I’m a planner. I was reminded by this from one of my girlfriends this morning over coffee talk. She was the one that actually indirectly introduced me to my now ex-husband. That’s so wild. Anyway, back to being a planner. Yes, I do like a plan of action and I’ve been living in the unknown these past 3 months. I’m really okay with not knowing anything right now. It’s a relief in some ways and less stress. Don’t get me wrong, I have some semblance of a plan at least for the next couple of months, more work related items. Other than that, where I end of living, who I end up dating, etc. is all up to the universe to decide for now.
Thoughts: Living in the present is exactly that, a “present” a gift. When you’re fully in the moment you can smell the air, hear your surroundings, see the cracks in the sidewalk, really hear the emotions in the person you’re having a conversation with, feel the energy vibing off other people and nature. All these are amazing gifts that we take for granted when we’re so consumed with ourself and our ego. To focus on the present, this friend of mine shared about the Five Count of Your Senses which goes like this: 1) State one scent you can smell 2) Name two sounds you can hear 3) Describe three sensations your body is feeling, such as temperature, the texture of your sweater, your feet against the ground 4) Identify four colors that you see 5) To yourself, begin by naming five things you see in front of you.
