DAY 103: Shop My Closet Boho Chic

Mood: Intrigued

Weather: Another Warm & Sunny SoCal Day

Outfit Purpose: Stylist at Work / Out & About

Style Savvy: This is a no brainer style tip … buy a dress that has great details from texture to print to fabric and the cut. You’ll hit a home run every time and won’t have to think about pairing separates and wondering if something matches. The only thing you might want to get creative with is jewelry. I paired my SINGLE maxi dress with oversized yellow gold hoop earrings, vintage gold panther bangle, Van Cleef bangle and Kenneth Jay Lane elephant bracelet along with my Kate Spade sandals.

Personal Style: Boho Chic

Thoughts: Yes intrigued for the day. Intrigued by new people I’ve met and some newish people I’ve been getting to know. Not in a negative way, in a positive fashion (no pun intended). I feel that I’ve been removed from one world and plopped into another. San Diego is only 2 hours away from L.A. but it’s different. Not in a bad way… just different. I know that goes for most people who move to a completely different state or country. I guess I was somewhat a creature of habit and got comfy living on the Westside of L.A. for most of my adult life. Even though I’ve traveled a bit, I knew I always had my home to go back to.

I’ve always acknowledged how brave and courageous people who move across country are but now I have a newfound respect for everyone who has. And I can’t completely relate because I still live in Southern California! It’s not like I moved to Nebraska or some country like Tunisia. Not saying those two places are bad but I definitely wouldn’t want to live in either one.

On a different topic, I’m styling a new client, she’s on the news at night in SD. Whenever I work with someone new, it’s like dating. You have to get to know each other, feel one another out, see what ticks, what doesn’t, etc. But when I finally do make that connection, it’s wonderful for not only myself but my client as well. I just want them to feel good in what they’re wearing and feel like themselves. Although I do make them try things on outside of their comfort zone just to test the waters and see what happens. That’s the only way to find out how far I can go with style and fashion.

This is a one rule I stress for both men and women, try things on that you wouldn’t normally try on when shopping for clothes. Even if it looks bad on the hanger. Sometimes pieces that don’t have hanger appeal can look really great on the body. Just sayin.
