DAY 31: Shop My Closet Print Play in LA

Mood: Fulfilled

Weather: Sunny day in L.A.

Outfit Purpose: Girls Night

Style Savvy: Today’s outfit is a play with print mixing. This time with classic black and white stripes (Club Monaco tee) paired with Paige Denim bicycle print pant. Since it’s been getting chillier at night, I threw on my white ASOS blazer to keep my outfit summer-ish and added my Prabal Gurung for Target lace up heels. Remember when mixing prints, make sure one piece has a bolder/bigger print and the other piece has a subtle/smaller print.

Personal Style: L.A. Street Style

What’s Going On With Me: I’m back in my hood, Santa Monica and it feels amazing. Earlier in the day (I was actually dressed in something else) I met up with one of my besties to peruse Barneys New York in Beverly Hills. The only two pieces I swooned over were a deep burgundy Saint Laurent handbag and these badass snakeskin Manolo Blahnik heels. I didn’t even realize the heels were Blahniks because it’s so different from what they typically design. If you go to my Instagram @savvynista you’ll see photos of both pieces. Believe it or not, I didn’t have the urge to actually purchase anything. I was merely appreciating the fine craftsmanship (wink). AND besides, my birthday is in September, I can still receive prezzies!

Tonight I was surrounded by a lot of my girlfriends and it felt like home. It seemed like I was dreaming. Am I really here? I haven’t been to L.A. in over a month so my reality has been in San Diego. It’s good to be with my gals. I’ve missed seeing their smiles in person, hugging them and soaking in their presence and energy.

Thoughts: I used to be one of those people who would say, “I don’t need any help, I can handle this on my own.” After wising up over the years, I see that kind of thought and action did me no service. It was all ego and pride. I ended up struggling more, not letting people get close to me and feeling alone. Today I practice humility and being open and honest so that I may help others who might be going through something I’ve gone through.
